Frontiers of Non-Invasive Neuromodulation

This session will present several forms of non-invasive techniques for modulating activity in the nervous system. These techniques will include electrical, magnetic, and optical stimulation modalities. This session will address the feasibility of these approaches in clinical applications and present future directions. This session will cover non-invasive modulation of activity in the vagus nerve and the brain.

Emerging Mechanisms of Neuromodulation: From Cellular to Network Substrates

This session will focus on the current state-of-art about the mechanisms of action underlying neuromodulation in providing therapeutic efficacy. Speakers will present current knowledge on various modalities of neuromodulation involving electrical deep brain stimulation to non-invasive ultrasound and their ability and scope to alter expression and/or activity of substrates spanning molecules, cells to neural circuits. The information will help to provide a more comprehensive perspective about affected substrates from neuromodulation. Knowledge arising from this synopsis can be leveraged to optimize, personalize and/or further innovate neuromodulation efficacy.
