Automating Functional Neurosurgical Procedures: From Planning to Programming

Neurosurgical procedures are technically demanding, requiring years of subspecialized training. And despite intensive training and practice, technical errors continue to occur. As robotics and machine learning evolve, some routine tasks performed by neurosurgeons can be automated. Automation has the potential to make procedures safer, quicker, and more widely available by reducing the barrier to entry for surgeons. This session will investigate several ways in which automation is being explored in the pursuit of refining neurosurgical procedures.

Ethical Conduct in Clinical Neuromodulation

This session will explore the role that the industry representatives may have in interacting with the patient undergoing neuromodulation therapy. The discussions will focus on ethical conduct in clinical neuromodulation.

The Value of Education for Optimization of Patient Outcomes

This session will provide an overview and update on optimizing patient outcomes in neuromodulation and pain medicine. The role of education, during training and beyond, will be discussed as the field of neuromodulation continues to expand. Speakers will describe the standardization of training and the transition from training to career planning.
