Ilknur Telkes, PhD MSc Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Telkes received her BS degree in biological sciences from Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkey in 2010. In the same year, she started her graduate work at Informatics Institute, METU, and joined the interdisciplinary working group of Dr. Ewa Jakubowska-Dogru and Dr. Didem Gokcay. She received her MSc degree on phase validation of neurotoxic animal models of Parkinson’s disease and the probabilistic learning paradigms in these models in 2012. She started her PhD work in Biomedical Engineering at University of Houston, TX, and joined Dr. Nuri F. Ince’s clinical neural engineering Lab. Her thesis focused on the investigation of spatio-spectral dynamics of local field potentials and their functional use in movement disorders. She was awarded her PhD degree in August 2017 and joined Dr. Julie G. Pilitsis’s basic science lab as a postdoctoral fellow. Dr. Telkes’s current work focuses on the investigation of brain signals in response to spinal cord stimulation in chronic pain and deep brain stimulation in neurological disorders.
