Dr. Theresa Bender Pape (Pape) is a Clinical Neuroscientist and Speech-Language Pathologist with a clinical background in providing therapeutic services to persons with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). She received her Doctorate in Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago and extensive post-doctoral training at the Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. Her post-doctoral training led to three consecutive Veterans Administration (VA) Rehabilitation Research and Development Career Development Awards during which time she received concentrated training in TBI outcomes measurement, research design, statistics, neurosciences and neural plasticity. Integrating this extensive training with her clinical expertise in TBI, Dr. Pape has served Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine (NUFSM) and the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) (Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, Hines, IL) for the past 20 years. She is the Founding Director of the Hines VA-Northwestern Neuroplasticity in Neurorehabilitation Lab. The research in her lab has been and is currently funded by multiple VA, Department of Defense, National Institutes of Health (NIH) research and training awards.
