During this session, participants will be able to explore the use of neuromodulation beyond the typical applications. The possible role of neuromodulation for the treatment of inflammatory conditions, diabetes and obesity will be explored. In addition, methods to modulate the vagus nerve will be discussed.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss how neuromodulation strategies can help for the management of inflammatory and autonomic indications.
  • Describe potential applications of neuromodulation for obesity and diabetes.
  • Explain the mechanism behind the use of external electromagnetic field to modulate the vagus nerve
  • Evaluate the evidence for the use of neuromodulation on the treatment of novel indications.
