Ricardo Vallejo, MD PhD Director of Research

Dr. Ricardo Vallejo is the Director of Research at Millennium Pain Center and CEO of Stimgenics and Lumbrera. He is deeply committed to discovering new methods and treatments for chronic pain and has several intellectual patents in neuromodulation, radiofrequency and software. Dr. Vallejo is appointed in multiple editorial boards of international peer review journals such as 'Clinical Journal of Pain', 'Pain Physician', 'Journal of Opioid Management”, “Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management”, “Neuromodulation”, and 'Revista Mexicana de Anestesiologia' and served as Chief Editor of “Techniques in Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management”.Dr. Vallejo has been Chair of the Scientific/Educational Committee for the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management Annual Meeting and is Associate Editor of the journal “Pain Practice”. He is also member of the examination board for the World Institute of Pain and the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians. Dr. Vallejo has published over 100 articles in international peer review journals and has authored more than 30 book chapters, and edited two books in Chronic Pain Management. He serves as speaker in meetings around the world. He is adjunct research professor at the Illinois Wesleyan University. Research interests of Dr. Vallejo are aimed at understanding the immune mechanisms underlying neuropathic pain conditions and the effects on epigenetics following the application of electro-magnetic stimulation on the central and peripheral nervous system.Dr. Vallejo received his medical degree in Colombia and then pursued his PhD in Immunology at the Complutense University in Madrid, Spain. During his residency in Anesthesiology at theUniversity of Miami he became Chief Resident of the program and served as resident representative for the Florida Society of Anesthesiology and The American Society of Anesthesiology. Then Dr. Vallejo pursued his fellowship in pain medicine at Harvard Medical School at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
